The OnePlus 10 Pro finally launched globally just last week, months after it first debuted in China. Curiously though, there wasn’t a non-Pro model to go along with it, as was the case for the OnePlus flagships of yesteryear. However, new leaked images of the Oppo Reno 8 have surfaced online, and look strikingly similar to the design of the OnePlus 10 Pro, almost as though it should be the OnePlus 10 base model itself.
According to serial leakster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 will come with the same distinctive camera island that wraps around the side of the device. However, while the OnePlus 10 Pro has a pretty square-ish camera bump, the images shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo show the camera bump being a little longer on the bottom. It also lacks the ‘Hasselblad’ branding that the OnePlus 10 Pro has, though will apparently keep the main 50MP camera with the Sony IMX766 sensor on the rear triple camera setup.
Other notable differences is that it will likely come with a smaller 6.55-inch, FHD+ display rather than the 6.7-inch, WQHD+ display on the OnePlus 10 Pro. Again, this is pretty much what a base model OnePlus 10 should’ve been; a smaller phone with slightly toned down features but still a flagship nonetheless. Of course, if the Oppo Reno 8 does end up being the render that Digital Chat Station shared, the biggest difference between that and the OnePlus 10 Pro will be that it’ll come with ColorOS, rather than Oxygen OS.
There’s no official word just yet though from neither Oppo nor OnePlus about the OnePlus 10/Oppo Reno 8, so it’s best to take the leaked render with a pinch of salt for now. However, we certainly won’t be surprised if that’s how the Oppo Reno 8 looks like; Oppo and OnePlus have had a history of sharing their design philosophy, such as the OnePlus Nord CE 2. In the meantime, if you like how the supposed Oppo Reno 8 looks, you can also check out the OnePlus 10 Pro here which goes for RM4,199 in Malaysia.
